THE TRAIN WAITING OUTSIDE ST MANG IS THE 1125hrs TO THE GRUNDSCHULE!
(20th September 2009)
Training young people on the importance of Sunday Mass took on a whole new meaning September 20th in Füssen. The annual Mass for those who have just started school was celebrated by Parish Priest,Father Frank Deuring. His sermon was about the children being on a train on a journey in which the train represents the school and the driver is the teacher and catering on the journey is done by the parents.Sometimes the train is quick representing easy lesson and sometimes slow when the going gets tough.God is in overall control looking after them and making sure everything is alright.
All the children in the 1st year are invited to bring their schuletütte. This is a large cone that is filled with goodies on the 1st day of school. If they bring it to St Mang on this Sunday they are all given a present.

This year for the 1st time ever after Mass the Blue Train which takes tourists around the city of Füssen was waiting out side the Basilica. It took the children to the grundschule(Primary school)and back to St mang. The children loved the experience which was organised by the Parish Pastoral helper for Children,Brigitte Böck.

MAXIMILIAN MAKES HIS 1ST HOLY COMMUNION

Congratulations to 5 year old Maximilian Johann Rosenthal-English who made his 1st Holy Communion on the Feast of St Mang at the 1000hrs Mass.Parish Priest, Father Frank Deuring gave Maximilian his 1st Holy Communion.Maximilian follows in a family tradition where his 4 older brother & sisters all received their 1st Holy Communion at the age of 5 or just after their 6th birthday. He is known for being very rough and a rascal but also can be heard singing Halleluia's with his 2 year old younger sister as they play around the house.Whilst not wearing the traditional attire for 1st Holy Communion,He realises that the important thing on the day was the reception of Jesus,Body,Blood;Soul & Divinity! He even took note of the Gospel of the day and was not dressed with rings and fine material, but dressed as a poor person whom Our Blessed Lord invited to the banquet. What a wonderful joy for a young lad who lives in Füssen to make his 1st Holy Communion on the Feast of St Mang,Apostle of the Allgäu who was based in Füssen during the last part of his ministry.
